It takes a year to grow anywhere between 4-6 inches of hair and it can be even longer with the regular trimmings necessary to keep the ends from splitting. But, the holidays and winter time can be so much fun with longer hair. Think about a glamorous updo for that big New Year’s Eve party. Plus, it’s a fun style change to add some length to your tresses. If you don’t have time to grow your hair out, hair extensions can give you that length and more in just an hour or two. No longer just for the rich and famous, high quality extensions are completely accessible and are a great way to add length, thickness and even a little color.
Natural-Looking Hair Extensions
Old school Barbie doll-style hair extensions are a thing of the past. New technology has made hair extensions easier, safer and more natural looking than ever. So there’s no need to worry that extensions will look fake or damage your hair. Friends and family at holiday gatherings won’t notice the extensions—they’ll just wonder what you’re doing to keep your hair looking lush and gorgeous.
At Radiance Salon and Spa, we use the best hair extensions available. Great Lengths hair extensions are made of real human hair that has been specially treated to recreate the thickness and texture that our clients need. Our stylists are specially trained by the Great Lengths team to apply (and remove) these high quality extensions.
How Hair Extensions Work
A favorite at top salons around the world, Great Lengths hair extensions undergo a strict quality certification process. At Radiance, our stylists use an invisible bonding process to discreetly apply small sectional extensions (of 20 to 50 strands) to your natural hair using a protein polymer bond made from synthetic keratin. The bonding is thin and virtually invisible, and the extensions are nearly impossible to distinguish from your natural hair.
Hair extensions are available in a range of colors (from natural tones to bright, fun rainbow shades) and personalized texture (from straight to wavy to curly). So whether you’re looking for something dramatic or simply to add some thickness or length to your natural tresses, we’ve got you covered.
Your Options for Hair Extensions
You’ll want to make an appointment with one of our stylists for a consultation before making a decision about hair extensions. Your trained stylist will explain your options and can help you find a look that will work best for you and look great with your natural hair. Your stylist will give you the information you need, but there are a few things to keep in mind.
First, your natural hair should be at least four to five inches long to ensure that your hair extensions are a success. Also, a certain level of hair health is a must. Hair extensions may not work with hair that’s very brittle or damaged (in this case, your stylist can work with you to create a plan for restoring your hair’s health).
The extension procedure should take from one to two hours, depending on the plan you’ve developed with your stylist.
Caring for Your Hair Extensions
Once your extensions are in place, your stylist will give you advice on the best products to use and how to care for your them to keep them looking great. While you can wash your hair as often as you like, we recommend that you avoid washing your hair every day, because daily shampooing can create an oil buildup that may affect the durability of the bond. In most cases, Great Lengths extensions can be styled just like your natural hair, although we do recommend using a special brush to avoid pulling on your strands.
Your extensions should last for four to six months with the proper at-home care. You should schedule a follow up visit with your stylist two weeks after getting the extensions and plan to get a “check up” once a month or so to make sure your extensions are working well with your hair’s natural growth. If you have problems or change your mind about your extensions, don’t try to remove Great Lengths extensions yourself. Because of the bonding process, removal should only be done by your stylist using specially designed removal products.
