There’s hardly anything scarier than a bad eyebrow pencil job. We’ve all seen it, and we’re all sure we’ll never be that person. But thinning eyebrows are a real issue, especially as we get older. Everyone wants full, beautifully shaped eyebrows, but getting a sculpted yet natural look can be a challenge. Here’s some good news for all of us who can use a little help: the technique known as microblading lets skilled technicians give you the long-lasting eyebrows of your dreams.
What Is Microblading?
Microblading is a semi-permanent tattoo-like technique that fills in thinning brows with small strokes designed to match the look of your natural eyebrows. Like tattooing (and good brow work), it’s both an art and a science. We use a small tool with tiny needles to add pigment just below the epidermis layer of the skin. Each individual hair stroke is drawn by hand by the technician and designed to create a natural look. Your artist will talk with you about the look you want and sketch out the brow before going to work. We’ll also help you choose the color that best fits your hair and skin color.
Who Can Benefit from Microblading?
Our microblading clients are mostly women with thinning eyebrows, either from aging or over-plucking or ladies with naturally fine eyebrows who simply want a fuller look.
How Long Does Microblading Last?
Microblading uses a semi-permanent ink that’s eventually absorbed into the skin. It usually lasts about a year but can last longer–in some cases several years.
How Long Does a Microblading Session Take?
At Radiance, our microblade artists are experienced semi-permanent makeup specialists who get extra training in microblading. Microblading takes a keen eye, creativity, the ability to listen to the client, attention to detail and a focus on safety. Each session generally takes around two hours since it’s a precision craft, and we want to be sure to take the time to do it right. Each microblading appointment includes the main session and a free touch-up visit where we fine-tune color and refine strokes as needed.
How Much Does Microblading Cost?
The fee for microblading at Radiance is $500 with a $200 deposit required to set up your appointment (the deposit is applied to the cost of the procedure). The cost includes a complimentary touch-up appointment 4 to 6 weeks after the procedure where our technicians refine their strokes, touch up the color and make sure the skin is healing well. When you think about the fact that you’re getting amazing eyebrows for a year or more, it’s one of the biggest beauty bargains out there.
Is Microblading Painful?
Like getting a tattoo, microblading can hurt a bit, but we’ll apply a numbing cream ahead of treatment to keep the pain to a minimum. When done properly by trained professionals, microblading is safe and hygienic. That’s one reason why a medi-spa environment is ideal. You can be sure that your technician is certified and using safe, clean needles. We pride ourselves on both best safety practices and artistic flair. Microblading clients experience only minimal downtime–you may have a little redness, itching or swelling just after treatment. Just be sure to follow your technician’s guidelines for keeping the area clean and making sure it heals properly.
What Is Microshading?
Microshading is a variation on microblading that uses small pinpoint dots rather than hairlike strokes. It’s a gentler procedure and a perfect option for clients with sensitive skin and results in a slightly different look. The microshading look is more powdery– as if you’d applied makeup to the brow. But after a week or so, microshaded brows lighten for a more natural look. Microshading is also a semi-permanent procedure and lasts about a year.
Microblading at Radiance Salon and Medi-Spa
For so many of us, eyebrows are everything. Terrific looking brows bring so much to our face. And faint or badly penciled brows can ruin an otherwise fabulous look. Microblading is an ideal solution for clients who are self-conscious about their brows but don’t want to take on such an important feature on their own. No more scary pencil lines, no more fading brows. Just a year or more of on-fleek eyebrows. What could be more perfect?
