A master esthetician uses the SkinPen® to stimulate your skin’s natural ability to repair itself. The SkinPen® creates microcolumns in the skin that encourage collagen production to target wrinkling, acne scars, fine lines, and pore size. Expect to see tighter, younger-looking skin and an overall improvement in skin tone and texture.
SkinPen® is the first FDA-cleared microneedling device on the market and is clinically proven to improve the appearance of wrinkles of the neck and acne scars in patients ages 22 and older. In as few as three minimally invasive treatments spaced 30 days apart, you can improve your appearance and step out with confidence.
How does microneedling work? It creates thousands of microchannels that stimulate your body’s natural wound healing process, while minimizing cellular damage. This rejuvenates your skin from the inside out. The result is effective remodeling of scar tissue, while keeping the overall structure of the skin intact.
Microneedling is an excellent treatment to improve the appearance of acne scars, skin texture issues, fine lines, and roughness. It is not recommended for those with Keloid or raised scarring, a history of eczema, psoriasis and other chronic conditions, a history of actinic (solar) keratosis, a history of herpes simplex infections, and those with diabetes. Microneedling cannot be done on skin with raised moles, warts or any raised lesions.
Microneedling takes about an hour and involves very little discomfort. You will see results with one treatment, but the results will be even greater if you do a series of treatments. After a consultation with your Radiance esthetician, you may choose to have a microneedling series performed every 4–6 weeks.
After your treatment, you can expect redness for a period of up to five days, but you can wear mineral makeup starting the next day, if desired. Many patients can comfortably go out to dinner the following night. People may experience some light burning, tightness, and mild flaking. Noticeable differences in the texture of the skin will occur within a couple of weeks.
